SMS Keyword Campaigns

Learn more about creating and sending SMS Keyword Campaigns.

Updated yesterday

SMS Keyword campaigns are one of the primary drivers of acquisition for your SMS program, in addition to List Subscription Campaigns. A Keyword Campaign allows you to illicit a response (the keyword) from your customers in order to opt into your SMS program. Keyword campaigns are easy to advertise on in-store signage, in emails, on social media and more.

Creating a Keyword Campaign

To create a new campaign navigate to Messages > SMS SMS Keyword > click New Campaign button > click the Keyword Campaign card.

πŸ’‘ If you have multiple sender codes, you will need to select the correct sender code from list navigation dropdown menu.

Setup

  1. Enter a Campaign Name and Keyword.

⚠️ The keyword cannot use the same keyword as an active keyword campaign or the system messages (e.g. STOP, HELP).

  2. Select a List from the drop-down menu.

    1. A list set up with an age gate will display the minimum age next to the list name.

    2. A list set up with a double opt in displays a checkbox. Check this box to require a user to reply back with Y before they are opted in to the selected list.

  3. Select a Start Date at least 15 minutes in the future.

  4. Check the Fixed End Date checkbox and specify a date if the keyword should automatically stop accepting opt-ins at on a given date (optional).

  5. Select a Coupon Pool, if desired.

A coupon pool allows you to include a custom unique or static code in your message by inserting it via a specific coupon tag.

⚠️ The coupon code must have an expiration date in the future or have no set expiration date in order for the message to successfully send.

  6. Click Continue.

Analytics

  1. Enter applicable Listrak Conversion Analytics.

πŸ’‘ Use conversion analytics to group messages by type for analytics displayed within the Listrak platform.

  2. Enter applicable Google Analytics.

  3. Click Continue.

πŸ’‘ Listrak Conversion Analytics are only applicable if they are enabled at the sender code level. These can be enabled by navigating to Settings > SMS Settings Sender Code.

Compose

In the Compose section you will craft the specific messages a contact will receive when they fill out the form on your website.

  • Welcome Message: This is the first message a contact will receive once their subscription is confirmed. Be sure to include the required compliance information.

πŸ’‘ Click the Plus Sign to include personalization in the message, including a Coupon Code, if selected in step #3 of Setup.

  • Extra Message: An extra message can be sent after your initial Welcome Message if you would like to include more than 160 characters of content.

πŸ’‘ Check the Capture Additional Data checkbox to ask a contact to provide information that can be saved to a contact's profile, such as email address, if desired. Information included on the form can be saved to a contact's profile when setting up the subscription points.

  • Data Confirmation: This message is sent if you have used the Capture Additional Data feature in the Welcome or Extra Message to confirm that you have received the requested information. It will appear as non-editable if the Capture Additional Data feature is not utilized.

Review

This is the last step before sending or scheduling the List Subscription Campaign and you will be able to review your message settings including:

  • Campaign Name

  • Keyword

  • Schedule Settings (Open-ended or Specific Dates)

  • List

  • Double Opt-in Status (if list supports double opt in)

  • Campaign Conversation (all messages will appear here)

If additional edits are required at this time, you can edit the message settings or content by clicking edit on this page.

To finish creating your list subscription campaign, click Confirm.

A popup will appear asking you to confirm you would like to activate the campaign.

Viewing Your Set Up Campaign

Once a campaign is confirmed and activated you will return to the Keyword Campaign Dashboard.

All newly scheduled campaigns will appear in the Scheduled tab. The campaign will move to the Active tab on the start date specified during setup.
