Learn how to use the message dashboard to view statistics on your recent email message sends.

The Message Dashboard provides additional reporting on how contacts engaged with a specific email message, such as open time of day, device used to view a message, and delivery details. This data can be used to determine what content is driving engagement, identify potential issues with deliverability, and give you a better idea of where your subscribers are located.

Accessing the Message Dashboard

There are two ways to access the message dashboard.

  1. The first way to access is directly from the email dashboard. Clicking on the graph icon will open the dashboard.

  2. The same icons also appear in the Message History report, which can be accessed by navigating to Analytics > Message Analytics Message History.


Date Options

When navigating the dashboard you can update the scope of data by adjusting the date range for the data. By default the last four days of data is shown. Update the date range to one of the default values or use the calendar icons to adjust based on when the message was sent.

Message Overview

The message overview widget provides an overview of the number of messages sent, delivered, number of opens, reads, and clickers in the selected timeframe.

Sales Conversion

The sales conversion widget shows the total revenue generated by customers who clicked through the message and made a purchase during the selected timeframe. Visits, conversions, conversion percentage and average order value are also included.



Device-Specific Widgets

Device Performance

The device performance widget further breaks down the metrics from the sales conversion widget by providing sales metrics for contacts who first opened on desktop, mobile, and tablet devices.

Device Engagement

The device engagement widget provides additional metrics to view how performance differs between contacts who first open an email on desktop, mobile, and tablet. You can find high-level metrics, such as number of clickers, as well as a breakdown of the percentage of contacts who engaged on a specific device type.

Opens by Device

The opens by device widget displays the number of opens by device as a pie chart. The pie chart is not impacted by the date range selected.

Reads by Device

The reads by device widget displays the number of reads by device as a pie chart. The pie chart is not impacted by the date range selected.

Clicks by Device

The clicks by device widget displays the number of clicks by device as a pie chart. The pie chart is not impacted by the date range selected.

Activity by Email Client

The activity by email client further breaks down desktop, tablet, and mobile openers by displaying a pie chart of the percentage of contacts who opened an email in a specific email client such a Gmail Image Proxy (Gmail inbox) and Apple Mail.

Message Delivery Widgets

The message delivery widgets provide additional information about how messages were delivered to different domains as well as bounce and abuse complaint reports.

Bounce Reasons

The bounce reasons widget displays a pie chart of the bounce causes, such as the following: DNS failure, blocked for abuse, mailbox full, invalid address, etc. Clicking on the chart icon opens the message bounce details page.

Delivered vs. Bounced

The delivered vs. bounced widget displays the number of messages delivered and number of messages bounced a pie chart. The pie chart is not impacted by the date range selected. Clicking on the chart icon provides a breakdown by domain.

Domain Warnings

The delivery warnings widget displays any domains that have a high bounce rates, low open rates, or other metrics you may want to keeps tabs on. Clicking the chart icon opens the domain delivery report that breaks down message metrics by domain.

Delivery by Domain

The delivery by domain widget displays a pie chart of the number messages delivered to each domain. Clicking the chart icon breaks down the details further by domain.

Abuse Complaints

ISPs consider the number of abuse complaints received when determining the validity and deliverability of an email message. This pie chart displays the number abuse complaints by ISP.



Message Engagement Widgets

Message Activity

The message activity widget displays opens, reads, and clicks by time of day. Click and drag to gather a smaller timeframe of data.

Opens by Time of Day

The opens by time of day widget displays the number of opens that happened in each hour range. This can provide insights into the time of day contacts are most engaged.

Activity by Country

The activity by country widget displays a pie chart of the countries in which contacts are opening your email. Click the chart icon to open the geo tracking activity report.

Activity by Sate

The activity by state widget displays a pie chart of the top state in which contacts are opening your email. Click the chart icon to open the geo tracking activity report.

The link clicks widget displays a pie chart of the top links clicked in your message and the number of clicks that occurred. Clicking the chart icon opens the Message Link Tracking report for further details on the clickers.

Unsubscribe Reasons

The unsubscribe reasons widget displays the common reasons a contact unsubscribed from a message such as clicking unsubscribe (subscriber) or an invalid address. Clicking the chart icon opens the message unsubscribe details report.


Managing the Message Dashboard

When viewing your Message Dashboard you may choose to show or hide specific widgets as well as manage or export the data.

Drag a widget to another location on the dashboard

Delete Icon

Remove a widget from the dashboard. Add it back at a later date by clicking the gear icon

Chart Icon

Click into additional reporting about the content of the widget
