Learn more about adding and managing subscribed and opted-out SMS contacts.

You can use the Contacts Dashboard to add new contacts, view subscribed and opted-out contacts, or edit profile data. Access the Contacts Dashboard by navigating to Contacts > SMS Contacts Contacts. πŸ’‘ If you have multiple sender codes, you will need to select the correct sender code from list navigation dropdown menu.

Page Navigation

  • Add Contacts: Enter a single contact phone number to subscribe or upload contacts in bulk.

    πŸ’‘ Contacts can be subscribed to multiple lists.

  • Contacts / Opted-Out / Other Contacts Tabs: Toggle between these tabs to see a list of subscribed contacts, unsubscribed contacts, or contacts that were unable to be subscribed based on their invalid reply.

  • Export Contacts (icon): Export either the subscribed contacts or opted-out contacts.

  • Contact Details: View the contact's SMS profile data or message activity

  • Edit: Edit, unsubscribe, or ban a contact selected from the list.

  • Ban: Remove a contact from the sender code list.

  • List Dropdown: Choose a list from the dropdown to display contacts that have opted into the selected list. (Defaults to show All Lists).

  • All Dropdown (on Opted-Out tab): Choose an opted-out method from the dropdown to display contacts that have been removed based on the selected reason.

  • Search: Search the contact list by phone number.

  • Sort: Use this function to sort columns.

  • Show/Hide Column: Customize your grid with the areas you want to view.


Contacts Tab

The information below is available for contacts that have subscribed to your list. Opt-ins or subscribers are contacts that have been imported, subscribed via a form, or texted a keyword campaign to join a sender code list.

  • Phone: A contact's mobile number that's subscribed.

  • Email: A contact's email address, if it was provided.

  • Subscribe Date: The date a contact subscribed to a list.

  • List Name: The list to which the contact is subscribed to.


Opted-Out Contacts Tab

Opt-outs are unsubscribed sender code contacts that have been removed via the default unsubscribe keyword, such as STOP, manually opted-out, or banned from the sender code by an administrator.

  • Phone: A contact's mobile number that's subscribed.

  • Email: A contact's email address, if it was provided.

  • Opt-out Date: The date a contact opted-out.

  • Reason: The method or reason assigned to a contact that has been opted-out of the sender code. Learn more about the different types of Opt-Out Reasons.


Other Contacts Tab

Other Contacts are those that were unable to be subscribed due to an invalid reply such as replying with anything other than Y.

  • Phone: A contact's mobile number.

  • Last Message Date: The date the last message was sent from Listrak to contact.

  • Email: A contact's email address, if it was provided.

Add Contacts

Choose to add a single contact or use the file import option to upload multiple contacts to the sender code.

Add a Single Contact

To begin click Add Contacts > Single Contact.

  1. Enter the Phone Number.

  2. Select a list to subscribe a contact to from the drop-down menu.

  3. Click Continue.

  4. Enter any additional profile data - system or custom (not required).

  5. Click Save to add contact (and data) to the sender code.

πŸ’‘ Repeat this process to subscribe the same contacts to multiple lists.


Add multiple contacts via File Import

To begin click Add Contacts > File Import and follow the 3 step import process:

  1. Upload File

    • Drag and drop the file into the window or click Browse to upload.

  2. Import Settings

    • Check the box to enter subscribers into all List Subscription journeys associated with this list (optional).

    • Select an import action from the drop-down menu: add/update contacts, update existing contacts, or opt-out contacts.

    • Select a list from the drop-down menu to import the contacts to.

    • Select an how you want the profile fields to be handled during the import from the contact already exists on the list dropdown: update fields, append new fields, or overwrite fields.

    • Check the box to Store contact with double opt-in status (optional).

      • Check if you want to Override contact's current opt-in status (optional).

    • Check the Shopping cart abandonment box to indicate the contacts consented to receive cart abandonment reminders (if applicable).

      • Check if you want to Override contact's current marketing consent (optional).

    • Check the box(es) that may apply to the file import (optional).

      • File contains text qualifiers.

        • Select either Single Quotes or Double Quotes.

      • First line of file contains column names.

  3. Configure Import Layout

    • Select the profile fields from the dropdown for each row of sample data to connect the import data to the correct profile fields in the sender code.

  4. Click Import to complete the upload process.


Contact Import Status

  • Processed: The total number of contacts that were supplied for the import.

  • Opted-in: The total number of contacts that were added to the selected list for the import.

  • Ignored Contacts: The total number of contacts processed and not imported for one of the following reasons: Previously Opted-out or Previously Banned.

  • List Import Settings: View at-a-glance the settings you previously selected:

  • List Name: Name of the updated list.

  • Import Type: The import action type selected during Import Settings.

  • Field Update Type: The field update method selected during Import Settings.



Export Contacts

A list of the subscribed or opted-out contacts can be exported by following these steps:

  1. Select the subscribed or opted-out tab to determine the status type of the contacts that will be exported.

  2. If desired, apply filters to refine the list of contacts in the export. Each status will have filters applicable to the export and need to be applied before clicking the Configure Export icon:

    • Subscribed contacts filter options:

      • By List - select from the list dropdown. Leaving the default selection of All Lists will export contacts from all lists in the sender code.

      • Phone number - add a partial or full phone number in the search bar.

    • Opted-out contact filter options:

      • By Status (reason) - select from the status dropdown. Leaving the default selection of All will export contacted that were opted-out for any reason from the sender code.

      • Phone number - add a partial or full phone number in the search bar.

  3. Click on the Configure Export icon in the top right corner of the table.

  4. Select an email address from the recipients dropdown.

  5. Click Export

The file will be emailed to you from Listrak [email protected] and will contain a link that is available for three days from which the file can be downloaded.

The fields included in the .csv export file are:

  • Phone Number

  • List Name

  • Last Send Date

  • Last Click Date

  • Subscribe Date

  • Subscribe Method

  • Email Address

  • First Name

  • Last Name

  • Postal Code

  • Birthday

  • Compliance Last Sent Date

  • Keyword

  • Custom Profile Fields



Contact Details

The Contact Detail's popup gives you access to an individual's System field or Custom profile field data and message activity. You can view all the information, made edits to their profile data, or export all inbound and outbound messages of a contact.

To View or Edit

Select the checkbox next to a single contact and click Edit, or click the phone number.

  1. To edit any profile field select either the System Fields or Custom Fields tab.

  2. Add, update or remove values in any of the fields.

  3. Click Update to save.

System Fields

Are pre-set profile fields to get you started. Your account automatically contains Email, First Name, Last Name, Birthday, and Postal code.

⚠️ They can not be removed from your account.

You will also see the last time a contact received a broadcast message that contained compliance messaging. This date is based on the tracking you can enable when adding the compliance message when creating a broadcast SMS, MMS, or data acquisition message.

Custom Fields

View data obtained within your custom profile fields. This tab will be empty if you do not have any custom profile fields set up. Learn more on how to create these fields.

Message Activity

View a 90-day snapshot or export a single contact's message activity.

Export Contact Data

Click Export to download the .csv file. This can be done for subscribed or opted-out contacts.

Subscribed Contacts exported file details:

  • Phone Number

  • Last Send Date

  • Subscribe Date

  • Outbound Message Activity

    • Includes the original broadcast message sent to the contact.

    • Includes any subsequent messages sent by Listrak.

      • For example: _This shirt is on sale. Text keyword Sales now_.

  • Outbound Message Delivery Date

  • Outbound Message Timestamp

  • Inbound Message Activity

    • Includes the message the contact responded with (the keyword(s))

    • Includes any subsequent messages

    • If message activity includes an emoji, the Unicode number will be populated in the outbound message string

  • Inbound Message Delivery Date

  • Inbound Message Timestamp

  • Delivery Status - Failed, Succeeded

Opted-Out Contacts exported file details:

  • Phone Number

  • Last Send Date

  • Opt-Out Date

  • Outbound Message Activity

    • Includes the original broadcast message sent to the contact.

    • Includes any subsequent messages sent by Listrak.

      • For example: _This shirt is on sale. Text keyword Sales now_.

  • Outbound Message Delivery Date

  • Outbound Message Timestamp

  • Inbound Message Activity

    • Includes the message the contact responded with (the keyword(s))

    • Includes any subsequent messages

  • Inbound Message Delivery Date

  • Inbound Message Timestamp

⚠️ The export can only be done for a single contact and it can not be customized.
