Creating a Broadcast App Push Message

Learn how to configure an app push broadcast message.

Once you have integrated your mobile app with Listrak you can begin composing and sending broadcast messages to your app users directly within the Listrak platform.

To get started, navigate to the broadcast app push page by going to Messages > Push Notifications App Push Broadcast. Follow these steps to build and configure the message.

  1. Click +Create Message to Configure the message settings.

  2. Provide an easily identifiable required message name for the broadcast app push message. 200 character limit.

  3. Choose the Audience the App Push message will get sent to:

    1. Send to all App Push Subscribers - This will send the message to all subscribed App Push contacts.

    2. Send to a specific Audience - Allows you target a specific group of subscribed App Push contacts.

      1. Click Build Audience to begin building.

      2. Drag-and-drop the Segment(s) into the include or exclude zones. Within each zone there is also the option to to build more complex groupings with the use of OR/AND conditions.

    3. Click Apply to apply to the message, click Edit Audience to edit, or click Remove Audience to delete audience.

  4. Add a title for the message. This will be displayed on a contact's mobile device and should provide motivation to open the notification. 65 character limit.

    1. If desired, select an emoji by clicking Add Emoji and selecting the desired option.

  5. Input the message text that provides the full details of the notification to contacts. 240 character limit.

  6. Insert the Destination URL for Android devices. This deep link specifies where you want the users to go when clicking the notification. (if applicable)

  7. Insert the Destination URL for iOS devices. This deep link specifies where you want the users to go when clicking the notification. (if applicable)

  8. Choose when the App Push message will be deployed:

    1. Send Now: Sends the message immediately.

    2. At a specific time: Pick the date, time and time zone the message with be deployed.

  9. To preview the message use the Android or iOS device toggle located above the mobile device on the right side of the screen.

  10. Click Next once you have confirmed your settings.

πŸ’‘ Helpful Tips

  • Click Save in the top right at any time to save your creation progress.

  • Click Exit in the top right to return to the sent message screen.

  • These notifications may appear differently based on an individual user's device.

  • App push does support use of emojis and use of logo for push message identification (app icon, controlled by client app).

  • App push does not support images/file attachment or Google Analytics.

Review

In the review section, confirm the settings of your app push broadcast message.

  • If necessary, click the edit button on the cards to go back to the design or configure section to make edits.

  • Once all settings have been confirmed, click the green button in the top right. This will immediately send the message or schedule it based on the settings in step #8 above.

    ⚠️ If the saving of the send fails, you will get an error message. You can click the button again to deploy the notification.


App Push Sending

  • The app push message will be deployed to the intended contact audience, typically within 10 minutes of clicking send immediately.

  • Once a message has been sent from Listrak, it gets sent to a notification service. If there are issues sending the message from the service to the contact, Listrak will be notified. The next steps will be:

    • If a message fails permanently, then Listrak will unsubscribe the contact immediately.

    • If it fails due to a connectivity issue, Listrak will automatically resend the message.

  • Additionally, if a contact turned off app push notifications in their device's settings for the app, the message would not be sent.
