Designing Messages in Advanced Abandonment Journeys
Designing Messages in Advanced Abandonment Journeys
Updated over 2 years ago

When creating advanced abandoned journeys, you can feature the item a contact was browsing or items they were abandoning. Using Journey Hub, you can design carts directly in the Composer interface when creating an email message. You can also seamlessly feature a carted or browsed product in an MMS message.

Learn more about designing:

Designing a Cart Abandonment Message

In Advanced Abandonment Cart Abandonment Journeys, you can design the cart element directly in Composer. You can also display the first item in a contact's cart in an SMS message.

Create a Composer Cart Video

⚠️ The cart can only be added when adding or editing a message directly from the Journey Hub interface. You can copy a Composer saved or Conductor message and replace the cart when editing in Journey Hub.

Email Cart Block Properties

The cart item block is located in the Structured Elements section of Composer and allows you to easily insert cart contents without custom HTML. When using this element, you will see a placeholder cart displayed. You can determine the maximum number of items a contact would be shown in their carted email and style the item properties, which will be reflected in this placeholder cart.

When an email is sent from Journey Hub it will be populated with the specific items in a contact's cart. If a contact's cart contains more items than the specified item limit, the additional items will simply not display in the email, but will be available when returning to the site if your site allows for a recreated cart.

There are three categories of properties you can adjust in the cart item block: the item design, the block design, and the block controls. Below, learn more about the properties you can adjust in each category.

  • Item Design: Check the box next to an element to remove or add it to the design

πŸ’‘ The specific image, title, price etc. will be based on the information collected by your integration.

    • Image: Configure properties such as image width for the image of a product in a contact's cart

    • Title: Configure properties such as font family and font size for the name of the abandoned product

    • Quantity: Configure properties such as color and font properties for the number of each products in a contact's cart

    • Pricing: Configure properties such as font color for the regular price of a product and enable a separate styling for sale price (if desired)

    • Button/Text Link: Configure properties to direct a contact back to their cart via a button or link, such as the text of the button and button color

  • More Item Details

    • Include additional information about products such as size, color, or brand of the specific SKU added to a contact's cart

    • Information will populate if available for the specific product in the cart

    • Styling such as font family or font color will be applied to all additional item details

  • Block Design: Configure properties for entire cart contents

    • Padding: Add padding around the entire cart block

    • Divider: Add a divider between each product and configure it's appearance

    • Vertical Alignment: Adjust the alignment of the information included for each carted item

  • Block Controls: Control how the products are laid out and appear within the block with the styling applied above

    • Show Up To: Select the maximum number of items that can be displayed in the cart. Up to 10 items will display in the preview

    • Sorting: Determine how the order of products in the cart is determined. The default option will display products in the order they were collected in the integration, or choose to display by price or line item total

    • Currency Format: Show currency in US Dollars, Canadian Dollars, Pounds, and Euros

πŸ’‘ The data collected as part of your integration only includes the numerical amount

    • Format Decimal: Show or hide the cents displayed in the price
