Banning Email Contacts

Learn how ban or unban a contact from a list.

Updated over a year ago

Banning a contact prevents a contact from receiving further emails from a list (or lists) to the specified email address. If a contact tries to resubscribe to the list (or lists) they were banned from they will not be able to do so unless they are un-banned in the Listrak account.

📌 Normally, unsubscribing a contact will be sufficient to remove the address from a list. Learn how by reading Subscribe or Unsubscribe Contacts Individually. Banning is typically done if a contact is causing a problem or a contact is adamant about no longer receiving any emails from your company.

Banning a Contact:

  1. Navigate to Settings > Email Settings Ban a Contact

  2. Enter the Email Address of the contact.

  3. Select one of the following actions:

    1. Ban contact from all lists to remove an email address from every list in your account.

    2. Ban contact from selected list to remove an email address from the email list you were on prior to navigation to the ban page.

    3. Remove contact from the "Banned" list to reverse a contact's banned status.

⚠️ Contacts will not be automatically resubscribed to their previous subscribed lists. You can either do so manually, or allow the contact to subscribe on their own. To subscribe the contact manually, read Subscribe or Unsubscribe Contacts Individually.

  4. Enter a Reason for Ban. This can help you keep track of different reasons or be useful when re-evaluating a contact requests to be un-banned.

  5. Click Ban Contact

⚠️  If an account user bans a contact but does not have access to all lists in their account, the contact will only be banned from lists that the user has access to.
