Step-by-step guide on how to migrate existing SMS contacts into Listrak

This guide will walk you through the steps you need to take with your previous SMS provider to prepare you to start sending through the Listrak platform.

Steps to take in Current Provide

  1. Deactivate current provider’s mobile pop-ups before the “sunset” message is sent.

  2. Send the “sunset” message to contacts who are opted-in to to your program FROM your current provider’s platform, preferably in the morning.

  3. Wait 24 hours after the "sunset" message, then export the list of contacts out of your current SMS provider.

    1. The following information should be included in the export:

      • Mobile Number - text data type (REQUIRED)

        💡 Helpful Tips

        • Please ensure the file includes ONLY opted-in contacts and NOT anyone who has been opted-out. If opted-out contacts are included in the file, please remove before sending to Listrak.

        • In writing, provide the following information to Listrak (your onboarding team), "The list has been scrubbed of all opted-out users."

      • Original Opt-in Date - date data type (REQUIRED)

      • Email Address - text data type (OPTIONAL)

      • Personalization fields: (OPTIONAL)

        • First name - text data type

        • Last name - text data type

        • Birthday - date data type

        • Anniversary - date data type

        • Preference data (anything data collected that will be used to segment)

          • Color

          • Gender

          • Style

          • Collections

Steps to take in Listrak

  1. Send the file to the Listrak team directly after the export from your current provide.

  2. The Listrak* team will upload the list of contact's and their data into the platform.

  3. The Listrak* team will create two new profile fields > Original Opt-In Date and Previous SMS Provider.

  4. The Listrak* will confirm when the upload is complete.

  5. Create and schedule the “sunrise” message that gets sent out of the Listrak platform on the new short code on the date discussed with your Listrak onboarding team.
