Before sending your transactional message, be sure to set up a message and be authenticated. The last step to setting up your transactional message campaign is to send your transactional message! You can do this with Send a Transactional Message REST API call. Before making the call, be sure to have your Transactional List ID and Transactional Message ID ready. Learn how and where to find those by following the below steps.

TRANSACTIONAL LIST ID

Be sure you are on the designated transactional list that you previously created. 

  1. Navigate from the home menu to Support.
  2. Go to API.
  3. Then API ID Information.
  4. Navigate to the LIST ID Details.

   4. Copy the List ID.

TRANSACTIONAL MESSAGE ID

You can receive your transactional message IDs within the Listrak Application or programmatically by sending an API to receive these IDs. 

LISTRAK APPLICATION

  1. Select your Transactional list.
  2. Navigate from the home menu to Support.
  3. Go to API.
  4. Then API ID Information.
  5. Navigate to the Transactional Messages heading.
  6. Locate the applicable Transactional Message.
  7. Copy the ID.

Keep this ID ready to make the API call to send the transactional message in the following steps.

REST API
Be sure to have authenticated yourself before making the REST API calls. Follow the below steps to test this in Postman or a REST application of your choice. Click here to learn more about using Postman.

1. Open https://api.listrak.com/email in a tab.
2. Navigate to the Transactional Message tab.
3. Then Get All Transactional Messages.
4. Copy the relative Get All Transactional Messages URL from the right-hand side of the page.

5. Navigate to Postman.
6. Be sure to add the prefix to the address bar first (https://api.listrak.com/email).
7. Paste the relative URL in the address bar.
8. Add the transactional list ID, as found previously above.
9. Copy the Transactional Message ID for the transactional message you'd like to send.
10. Click Send.

GET ALL SEGMENTATION FIELDS IDS

Before sending your transactional message, you must also reference the attribute IDs for segmentation fields that will be used to populate your message. 

LISTRAK APPLICATION

  1. Select your Transactional List.
  2. Navigate from the home menu to Support.
  3. Go to API.
  4. Then API ID Information.
  5. Navigate to the Segment IDs heading.
  6. Locate the applicable segments for the message.
  7. Copy the IDs for each segment.

Keep these IDs ready to make the API call to send the transactional message in the following steps.

REST API
Follow the below steps to receive the segmentation field IDs.

1. Open https://api.listrak.com/email in a tab.
2. Navigate to the Segmentation Field tab.
3. Then Get all Segmentation Fields.
4. Copy the relative Get all Segmentation Fields URL from the right-hand side of the page.

5. Navigate to Postman.
6. Paste the relative URL in the address bar.
7. Add the Transactional List ID.
8. Click Send.

ADDING THE SEGMENTS TO A TRANSACTIONAL MESSAGE

At this point, you should have the information that's needed to populate and test your transactional message with Postman. The next step is to add the collected segments to the API call in Postman.

  1. Navigate to Postman.
  2. Open the Send a Transactional Message call. The transactional call can be found here.
  3. Enter the Send a Transactional Message call into the Request URL.
  4. Click the Body tab.
  5. Select the raw radio button.
  6. Select the applicable code type from the drop-down menu.
  7. Add the Segmentation Field IDs, followed by a value in the applicable code you selected.

Then, follow the below steps to finish sending your transactional message.

SENDING A TRANSACTIONAL MESSAGE

Now that you have collected the Transactional Message ID and segmentation field IDs, you can send your transactional message. Follow the below steps to send a transactional message.

1. Open https://api.listrak.com/email in a tab.
2. Navigate to the Transactional Messages tab.
3. Then Send a Transactional Message.
4. Copy the relative Send a Transactional Message URL from the right-hand side of the page.

5. Navigate to Postman.
6. Paste the relative URL in the address bar.
7. Add the Transactional Message List ID and Message ID, as found previously above.
8. Select Post from the drop-down menu.
9. Click Send.

Congratulations, you've just successfully sent a transactional message!
