MMS stands for Multimedia Messaging Service. It allows SMS users to send multimedia content. It’s most popularly used to send pictures, but can also be used to send animated .gifs. While their maximum size depends on the carrier and the device receiving the message, 300-600 KB is often mentioned as the size most carriers will reliably handle. Create a new MMS broadcast message by following the below steps.

1. Navigate from the SMS Home Dashboard.
2. Click New Campaign.
3. Then New Broadcast.
4. Then MMS.

When creating a new MMS broadcast message, there's a four-step workflow on the left-hand side.

1. Enter a Message Name.
2. Select a List from the drop-down menu.
3. Apply filters, if applicable.
4. Select to send Immediately, Schedule, or Time Zone Optimize.
5. Click Continue.

Next, enter your Conversion Analytics.

NOTE: Listrak Conversion Analytics are only applicable if they are enabled at the short code level. Enable Listrak Conversion Analytics by navigating to the short code settings located under Manage

6. Select a Campaign Type from the drop-down menu.
7. Enter a Campaign Name.
8. Enter a Campaign Version.
9. Enter the applicable Campaign Name and Campaign Content for Google Analytics.

The second step is to enter the content of your broadcast send including the necessary compliance language. Be aware that you're limited to 1,000 characters per message and an attachment with a maximum file size of 500k. Use the text box to enter the message content with a real-time preview located on the right-hand side.

Supported filetypes:

• Image: .gif, .jpg, .png, .bmp

• Animated GIF: .gif

• Contact Attachment: .vcf (Learn more)

Click the plus sign in the message to add personalization elements. Learn more about using custom fields with SMS.

After the message has been created, click Continue

The last step before sending or scheduling your broadcast message is the review. On the third step of the workflow, you will see at-a-glance message settings including:

  • Message Name
  • Scheduled/Send Date and Time
  • List
  • Message Content

If additional edits are required at this time, you can edit the message settings or content by clicking edit on this page. By clicking edit, you will be redirected to one of the above workflow steps.

To finish creating your broadcast message, click Confirm.

Next, an alert confirmation pop-up will appear, giving you one more opportunity to confirm the campaign setup. If you would like to make edits before sending/scheduling, click Continue Editing, this will redirect you to one of the above workflow steps.

If you are ready to send your message click Send Immediately.

Or click Schedule to Send to deploy your message at a later date/time.

Congratulations, you have created an MMS Broadcast Message! To learn more about this and other SMS features, contact your Account Manager or Listrak Support for more information!
