Check Branding Settings

Branding settings improve deliverability by distinguishing your email campaigns from other email senders, so your good reputation is not negatively affected by other companies. Read Ensure Branding is Complete to follow the simple steps required to completed your branding and authentication.

CHECK FOR MANDATORY MESSAGE ELEMENTS

There are three elements that are absolutely mandatory for your email send: a browser link, an unsubscribe link, and a physical mailing address.

  • Browser Link: The browser link typically appears at the top of bottom of a message and directs subscribers that cannot view HTML to a web-hosted version of the message.

When adding a browser link, you can use a Listrak auto-generated link at the top of the message or insert your own custom link into the message in any location.

    • To add an auto-generated link:

      • Navigate to Settings > Email Settings List Settings.

      • Scroll to the message composition section.

      • Select Yes for the setting Automatically insert the browser link at the top of the message?

    • To add a custom link:

      • Navigate to Help & Support > Help & Support Email Browser Link

      • Copy the browser link including the brackets

      • Paste the copied link into an HTML element or Composer text element as the link. You can customize the text that will appear in an email.

  • Unsubscribe Link: The unsubscribe link appears at the bottom of the message and allows contacts to opt-out of your list. An opt-out is required for compliance and helps prevent contacts from marking you as SPAM, which can harm deliverability.

When adding an unsubscribe link, you can use a Listrak auto-generated link at the bottom of the message or insert your own custom link into the message in any location.

    • To add an auto-generated link:

      • Navigate to Settings > Email Settings List Settings.

      • Scroll to the message composition section.

      • Select Yes for the setting Automatically insert the list removal link at the bottom of the message?

    • To add a custom link:

      • Navigate to Help & Support > Help & Support Email Unsubscribe Link

      • Copy the browser link including the brackets

      • Paste the copied link into an HTML element or Composer text element as the link. You can customize the text that will appear in an email.

  • Physical Address: Including a physical address in your email is a requirement for CAN-SPAM compliance. Read more in CAN-SPAM Act

Enable Google Analytics Tracking

Once Google Analytics tracking is enabled, you’ll be able to include campaign and content values on the authoring page when creating messages.

  1. Navigate to Settings > Email Settings List Settings.

  2. Scroll down to web analytics integration.

  3. Select Yes to enabling tracking for Listrak Conversion Analytics, Google Analytics, and all domains:

Assign a Campaign to the Message

You should always assign a campaign to each messages. The Campaign name is used to organize emails within Listrak and is used when reporting on engagement metrics, such as click rate. For example, if all messages about a specific product type use the same campaign value, you can see an aggregate click rate for all messages about that product.

  1. Navigate to Messages > Email Messages View Saved Email.

  2. Select your email.

  3. Under message settings, enter a Campaign name or select an existing campaign from the drop-down.

Assign Conversion Analytics to the Message

Another area of the authoring page that includes campaign is third-party web analytics integration (Google Analytics) and Listrak Conversion Analytics integration. When Google Analytics is enabled, Listrak automatically codes each link so that Google Analytics will track it. The source and medium are automatically included (as Listrak and email, respectively), but you can also include additional tracking parameters.

💡 Including a Google Analytics Campaign Name can prevent unwanted breaking of analytics that can occur when the default value, the message subject line, contains special characters or emojis.

You can also include additional custom Google Analytics parameters using the Custom URL Variables. Custom URL Variables can be enabled in the List Settings.

Add a Preheader

Listrak allows you to add a customized preheader in the message creation experience. A preheader will appear in an inbox and provide additional incentive or information about what a contact will find in the message.

CHECK TO ENSURE IMAGES ARE PROPERLY LOADED

Listrak offers a media library to upload and store images to be used in your messages. This feature can be accessed via Content > Content Media Library or when creating an email in Composer.

Once images are loaded, they will appear within the folder structure. Remember, if you move, rename, or delete an image, the link will break and it will not appear in the email – even if that email was already deployed. Double check to ensure that image names have not been changed and that no links are broken. Sending a test allows you to confirm that all images are being referenced correctly and will appear.

💡 All image links are based on the image name. So if you notice that you have the incorrect image in your email, you can simply upload a new version using the same name. The new image will appear in your email and you won't have to change the link.

Setting Up A MultiPass

One of the last things you can specify when scheduling a messages is whether or not to include a MutliPass send. The MultiPass feature allows you to deploy messages to only those who received the first message but didn't open it. You can adjust the subject line or other creative elements in your email. You will also specify how long Listrak should wait between sends to see if a contact has opened the initial email.

⚠️ If you are in the process of IP warmup, discuss this option with your account manager as it may impact deliverability.

Confirm the Send Options

The confirmation page displays the most important information concerning your send. The confirmation screen will appear after you have clicked Send to List or Schedule to Send on the main creation screen.

Take a moment to verify the following:

  • Message is scheduled for the intended date

  • Message is being sent to the desired segment of your list

  • Message is being sent to the correct list name

  • Message include the correct subject line

Testing

Now you're ready for the most critical step: testing. You can send a test message one of two ways:

  • Send Test: You can find the Send Test button at the top and bottom of the authoring page. It defaults to the email address of the person logged into Listrak. You can change the address, but only one address at a time may be entered.

  • Send Review: The Send Review button is located in the bottom left-hand corner of the authoring page. To define the review group, go to Settings > Email Settings List Settings. Scroll down to List Review Group and enter the email addresses of people who should proof the message.

Steps for testing:

  1. Click on every link to make sure the hyperlinks work and are directed to the correct target.

  2. Open and click the message in multiple domains such as Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, etc.

  3. Open and click the message in multiple email clients such as desktop, mobile phone, tablet.

  4. Ensure that the images in the message render clearly.
